IM ABLE Foundation
The IM ABLE Foundation demonstrates to individuals with a physical disability that there is a way to become and stay active despite their physical limitations. Being disabled today is not the same as it was fifty years ago - there are so many exciting opportunities to “get up and get moving.” Our goal is to help individuals find the physical fitness modality that will help improve muscle strength and coordination. We will help the family financially in purchasing the equipment that best meets their needs. This equipment could include a handcycle for someone who has lost the use of his or her legs who could not otherwise ride a bike. Staying active not only benefits the body but the mind as well, and the IM ABLE Foundation endeavors to help disabled individuals achieve that goal of maintaining physical and mental health and well being.
As fundraising continues, the Foundation will identify children and their families who want to learn how to operate a hand cycle. As the children gain a comfort level operating the equipment, and demonstrate a desire for its continued use in order to stay active and be active, the Foundation will help purchase a cycle or other fitness modality for the child.
